Reclaim Your Space

Tired of 'Stuff'? Our 3-Weekend Challenge to Reclaim Your Space! 📦

Let's be honest: our homes are fantastic at collecting things. That one drawer you can never close, the stack of papers that just keeps multiplying, or the closet where clothes go to retire. It happens to everyone!

We know that a clear space leads to a clear mind (and way less stress). Whether you're planning on loving your current Columbus or Cincinnati home for decades or you’re just getting ready for your next big adventure, reclaiming your space is the best way to get excited about your future.

Ready to stop tripping over yesterday’s memories? We designed the 3-Weekend Reclaim Challenge just for you. Get ready for some fun, focused chaos!

Weekend 1: The Closet and Cabinet Conquest 👕

We're starting with high-impact, low-commitment areas. You want to see instant results—that feeling is pure motivation!

Focus Area: Clothes, Linens, and Bathrooms

Goal

Method & Why It Works

The Clothes Rule

Empty your entire closet (yes, everything) onto your bed. Hold each item and use the "Love It, List It, Toss It" rule: LOVE IT (keep); LIST IT (donate or sell if valuable); TOSS IT (if damaged or unusable). If you haven't worn it in a year, it’s probably a 'List It.'

Linens & Towels

Do you really need 15 mismatched towels? Keep three sets of sheets per bed and a reasonable stack of matching towels. Donate the rest to a local animal shelter—it's a win-win!

Bathroom Cabinets

This is the medicine graveyard. Check expiration dates on everything from foundation to ibuprofen. Toss anything expired or that you haven't used in six months. Free up that counter space!

Motivation Booster: When you’re done, that empty closet will look so appealing, you might even enjoy putting your keepers back in. Ahh, perfection!

Weekend 2: Taming the Paper Monster & Kitchen Chaos 🍝

This weekend deals with the trickier items that require a tiny bit more brainpower. Grab a shredder and a fun playlist.

Focus Area: Paperwork and the Pantry/Kitchen

Goal

Method & Why It Works

The Paper Monster

Tackle all the mail, receipts, and manuals. Create three simple files: Action (bills to pay), Archive (taxes, warranties, car titles—the important stuff), and Shred. Take pictures of appliance manuals and store them digitally to free up huge amounts of space!

The Kitchen Cabinet Cure

Start with your plastic containers. Match every lid to every bottom. Any homeless lid or bottom gets tossed. Seriously. Next, attack the spices and food items. Toss anything expired or that you bought for "that one experimental recipe" five years ago.

The Drawer of Doom

You know the one. Tools, random pens, tangled cords, foreign coins. Pull the contents out, find a clear tray or divider, and give every small item a purpose-built home. No more rummaging!

Motivation Booster: Having your essential financial documents easily accessible is a great feeling. And a clean, organized kitchen makes cooking dinner feel like a vacation!

Weekend 3: Deep Storage Detox & Future Prep 🛋️

It’s time for the final frontier: the storage spaces. These areas often hold the most memories (and dust bunnies).

Focus Area: Basement, Attic, Garage, or Storage Closets

Goal

Method & Why It Works

The 6-Month Rule

Be ruthless here. If you haven't needed it, used it, or thought about it in the last six months (excluding seasonal decorations), you probably don't need it. This includes unused sports gear, old monitors, or inherited knick-knacks.

Maximize Vertical Space

Invest in shelving units or clear plastic bins that stack perfectly. Getting items off the floor not only looks cleaner but also protects your belongings.

Create a "Ready Box"

If you think there's a chance you might move someday, start a labeled box now with non-essential wall décor, keepsakes, and heavy books. It makes packing a breeze later on, and it creates a little extra space today!

Motivation Booster: You've officially claimed victory over your stuff! You now have a home that feels lighter, more functional, and truly reflective of the life you’re living right now. Plus, if your future involves buying a new home or showing off your existing one, you’re already 80% of the way staged and packed!

We love seeing people fall in love with their homes all over again, and this challenge is the perfect reset button. It’s amazing what a little organization can do for your peace of mind!

Which area felt the most satisfying to conquer—the clothes or the paper? Let us know which storage trick helped you the most!
